Business economics first, channels second
Channels change every year. The economics of a business do not. Four principles follow.
1. Strategy before tactics
Decide what you are trying to win, and for whom, before choosing a channel. A tactic without a strategy is a cost.
In practice. At Lead Academy the offer ladder (Starter, Core, Profit Maximiser) was designed before the funnel was built.
2. Data before assumptions
Read the numbers first. If tracking cannot be trusted, fixing it is the first project.
In practice. At Cyanergy the shift from A$559 to A$69 per lead began with reading the account honestly.
3. Profit before vanity metrics
Revenue and margin, not clicks, followers or impressions alone. Where I report impressions, I report clicks beside them.
In practice. Magellan Group impressions rose 158% while clicks held. I report both.
4. Systems before short-term wins
Build what keeps working after the campaign ends: tracking, cadence, documentation.
In practice. The audit framework behind 1,000+ NSW Government reviews is a system, not a one-off.
